Hello reader,

after having read our manual concerning the windows-manager carefully, I get the new aptosid screen. Then I fill in my pass-word and after some seconds the "old" sidux screen pops up instead - to my surprise! How can I get rid of it?

Thank you in advance & greetings,
Jörg

maybe you still have packages starting with sidux-art installed?
if so, remove them. still should not happen though.

Perhaps all you need to do is change your splash screen. Go to "Systems Settings" then choose "Appearance" then click on "Spash Screen" and then choose "aptosid-keres".

KDE?

You have to set the KDM splash as root:
      Code:
sux
[root password]
dbus-launch systemsettings
There you can set it (it's in the "extras" tab somewhere ... selfexplaining). After the next restart of KDM you should/have to have the new aptosid splash.

Thank you for your help, johnlittle001 and hubi, but I have tried that already before - without success.

Devil's suggestion was right - thank you very much. One more question: can I also remove the other packages starting with 'sidux' (for instance in: /usr/share/doc) without damaging my system?

Greetings, Jörg

yes, you can.
a lot of them were just transitional to pull the new aptitude packages in.

hubi's solution worked for me. The new splash came up after reboot, and I presume it would after KDM restart also. The setting is under Advanced>Login Manager>Theme.
Thanks, hubi!
