I've thought of having an own icon-Theme for aptosid to underscore a new beginning. Maybe I'll get it finished today so I can show it to you.

Here are the Icons that I've announced before (just a draft).
Maybe they look a bit boring, because of the same colors, but like I said it's just a draft.
Please tell me how you find them.

i don't know what program you're using to make these, but the circle background and top half highlight have rough edges, ie are not anti-aliased like the image in center of the circle. if you're using inkscape and would like help, either ask here or hop into #aptosid-art and we'll get you going in the right direction.

i like the concept here though, despite the minor execution flaws. i'd suggest giving the colours specifically from our colour palette a try [ http://lab.aptosid.com/art/browser/sidu ... alette.svg ] ... looking forward to seeing further revisions Smile

sx9 - Very cool mate. I like the simplicity. With a bit of polish these will be great.

Make sure you hang out in #aptosid-art if you feel like contributing more!

I've recognized it already - that's why I'm still not finished. Well, aptosid keres is out now, so I don't need to hurry anymore Wink.
But I just can't figure out how to create stand-alone objects that are just transparent gradients that have a certain form (like my decoration [created with Paint.NET - a bitmap editor so there are still some rests of the anti-aliasing at the top of the decoration]).
But thanks for all the compliments you've made and thank you that you provide this help.

And thanks for the link to the new color palette!
I've searched for it, but haven't found it.

Preview of the first re-edition of my icon theme.
Now in SVG!
It's not perfect, but contains the, I hope right, color palette and some more effects.

Post subject: RE: Re: RE: Icon Theme
did you mean to leave the stripes visible past the bounds of the circle?
sx9 - 22.09.2010, 20:59
Post subject: RE: Re: RE: Icon Theme
No that's what I've meant with it's still not perfect.

Here is an archive of all images (the svg contains layers that provide all icons)

fixed it for you. i used clones of the background circle as the clipping path for the stripes and the upper highlight, so if you change the background circle, the clipping paths will automatically update to match. enjoy.

How about icons of this style for the systemtray of KDE SC 4.5?

detaos,
could you please provide some working link(s)?
(Or is it only me? However, sx9's post above does have one).

phen: it appears to be an issue with iceweasel ... if i view the page in chromium, the svg shows up ... if i view it in iceweasel, all is see is the file name.

link: http://celtrenicdesigns.com/aptosid/aptosid_icons.svg

enjoy.

@ phen
You have to right-click on the text "aptosid-icons.svg" and then "View Image"

Interesting Idea!

@ detaos

Thanks!
Sounds really great!
But, how have you done this?
I've already tried a path division, but it hasn't worked.
detaos - 23.09.2010, 15:20
Post subject:
sx9:

1) make two paths, that half overlap with each other.
2) select them both.
3) in the menu: Object -> Clip -> Set

the cloning is as simple as: Edit -> Clone -> Create Clone

enjoy.

Post subject: Final icon-theme!
I've created my first final version of the aptosid-icon-theme.
I have created clones, like you have said it, and then have done the path division and it has worked. I've seen that your clipping path svg wasn't shown correctly by some viewers (And somehow it hasn't woeked while correcting the lower light effect).

All made changes:

Add: Favorite-icon
Fix: Lower light effect overlaps the main circle
Fix: Stripes overlap the main circle
Change: Palette has a new layer now
Fix: Some main images (like fred) has been centered

Debian Package will follow soon...

Post subject: RE: Final icon-theme!
Here are the basic icons in all sizes.
The archive also contains a generation script for that theme (only for KDE/KDialog).
It automatically generates all needed icons in all sizes if changes are made.
Full debianization will follow soon...

Here is the final Debian-Package!
It is packed in a tar-Archive.

Please give me some feedback.

SX9: the aptosid icon is especially very nice. An enlarged version of that would make an awesome wallpaper as well Smile

Post subject: thanks! hi contrast.
thanks so much for the icons, sx9. i'm using em 8D

i really like hi contrast icons, as they're easier for my old eyes to pick out. so if you wanted to do a launcher button with some black and bright white in it (something like the aptosid irc icon for the default desktop) that'd be really nice too.

but what you've done is great. subtle and classy. you did a beautiful job.

thanks again, ike.

ps the launcher button is the only one i really want to jump out at me. the others being low key is fine, even preferable.

I miss two things in your theme:
1. The standard dolphin icon size 80x80 (which is also my standard icon size). 72x72 is outdated and not supported by dolphin.
2. Your theme should not only inherit hicolor! It should inherit oxygen in first place!
      Code:
Inherits=oxygen,hicolor

And now add all other aptosid related icons to this and make it the default theme for the live CD. Smile

Yes, because there is a naming issue, they conflict.

Thanks.
I have recognized it yesterday and corrected it then. Tomorrow I have the time to post it.

(Yeay! 100st post! Smile )

Exclamation Important: I'll post updates at the same place of the last package-containing post this time, because I have no repo. Later I'll send all updates to slam's repo directly (thanks again).

ADD: Please use the poll functionality!

sx9: Thanks for this, I'm currently using your scorpion SVG as my KDE kicker K Menu icon.

Post subject:
Hi sx9, I'm using it to. It's great. But I'm using the individual .svg without the stripes. The stripes on the version in the theme make it harder to make out the scorpion. At least with aptosid's default height for the KDE task bar.
