My connection too gets disconnected frequently but not when data is getting transferred.
Sometimes when I click on a link after idle state, I get the pop-up - "Connected to beepbeep,
meaning that it had disconnected.
So not a problem for me in my ACER5542 with atheros chip(chipset). |

I'm now running OpenWRT and having no (disconnect) issues up to now. Consider this topic to be solved  |

Great to hear..someone help you get OpenWRT set up for you?
The stock firmware on many routers are buggy as hell...Linksys is no exception so that's why I now have DDWRT on it. |

I used the old 10.3 release which had many annoying bugs. The 10.3.1-RC3 release worked out of the box Just had a little hiccup resetting the router after messing with the router lan settings which completely locked me out  But apart from this, the firmware works very well now. I've got the impression that it's even faster and my ping has also improved a bit. I'm quite amazed how much can be customized with this firmware. Unfortunately, my router has just 4MB flash (but it was really cheap, though  )

I just tried openwrt backfire 10.03 on my tp-link wr1043nd, but there is no wifi found
