Question
dear aptosider,

I have read some tutorials about the unrar installation like this at http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/open-rar-f ... x-or-unix/ : "If you are using a debian distro, you can install unrar by opening a terminal and typing apt-get install unrar". But I don't know why I coudn't install it. The command above didn't work at all.I have already added the contrib non-free repositories. Perhaps another repository? Someone knows How Do I install unrar on aptosid ? I appreciate your helpful hints.
Cheers.
Idea

No, its in sid/non-free.

So please ensure that you have added non-free really to your /etc/apt/sources.list.d/debian.list, run 'apt-get update' and 'apt-get install unrar rar-' should work fine.

(I have added 'rar-' to ensure that you don't have rar installed (by requesting its removal with the dash) which is also packaged and should have similar functionality but conflicts with unrar & is shareware…)

Very Happy
Thanks, Donkult. It works now. I have forgotten to add to the following non-free repositories:

"deb http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free
deb-src http://ftp.br.debian.org/debian unstable main contrib non-free".

cheers.
