Hi all,
I have just downgraded libreoffice (3.4.3-1 to 3.3.3-4+b1) since i found the latest version to be really unstable. As you can see here:
Code:
apt-cache policy libreoffice
libreoffice:
Installed: 1:3.3.3-4+b1
Candidate: 1:3.4.3-1
Version table:
1:3.4.3-1 0
500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ sid/main i386 Packages
*** 1:3.3.3-4+b1 0
500 http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ testing/main i386 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
In particular, in 3.3.3 there used to be about 20 border line styles available to the app. In 3.4.3 this choice has been reduced to like 5-7
The frames I use in my documents have a thick border (one of the last available ones in 3.3.3) which simply does not exist any more in 3.4.3. So this is what makes libreoffice to crash uppon loading these docs.
So for the time being its
Code:
dpkg --get-selections | grep hold
libreoffice hold
live-build hold

I have 8 border styles in LibreOffice Writer 3.4.1 and 19 in version 3.3.3. No crashing so far, but I get a display issue in the main screen, in all 3.4.x versions, including 3.4.1, 3.4.2 and the latest 3.4.3. The gray background picks up parts of other windows, whether hardware acceleration for graphics output in LO is enabled or not:
I don't have that display issue with the 3.3.3 version currently in Testing.
Code:
infobash -v2
Host/Kernel/OS "AK1" running Linux 3.0-1.slh.6-aptosid-amd64 x86_64 [ sidux 2009-02 Αιθήρ - kde-full - (200907141427) ]

@Alexk, to me that could be related to Intel driver bugs as I have no display issues with 3.4.3 on an old Radeon 7500 chip using the opensource driver. Perhaps there may be addins for these additional border styles? |

For me the problem is libreoffice take ages to open for the first time (that happens since the last upgrade).
The problem that you discribe probably is caused by video card and/or driver (I had similar problems in the past). |

Just DU and the problem with the speed that it opens first time, somehow it is solved. I upgraded kernel too.
EDIT. The bottom scroll bar slider doesn't function, too. I am not sure if this was a previous problem or a new one. |

@snvv: are you using Intel graphics? I also have the problem with non-functioning bottom scroll bars in some Tools/Options menus in 3.4.x versions. I also had the weird stalling on opening but that seemed to mostly go away with an upgrade as well. I'm currently running testing, installed like this, maybe there's an easier way:
Code:
apt-get install libreoffice-base/testing libreoffice-base-core/testing libreoffice-calc/testing libreoffice-common/testing libreoffice-core/testing libreoffice-dbg/testing libreoffice-draw/testing libreoffice-help-en-us/testing libreoffice-impress/testing libreoffice-java-common/testing libreoffice-kde/testing libreoffice-math/testing libreoffice-ogltrans/testing libreoffice-pdfimport/testing libreoffice-style-oxygen/testing libreoffice-writer/testing ttf-opensymbol/testing uno-libs3/testing ure/testing

The bottom slider can be scrolled by using the centre mouse button (if you have one). |

I don't use libreoffice at the moment, but if it is anything like openoffice yo can try
Open libreoffice, go to menu Tool -> options, left tree, go to libreoffice -> Memory.
you should see libreoffice quickstarter
check it to enable it, close -> now open libreoffice
It should be as fast as openoffice
ignore this post if quickstarter is not listed |

I don't have that option in the 3.3.3 version from testing. But LO/OO have always opened fast for me in Debian/Aptosid and 3.3.3 and 3.4.3 are quick. |

It seems I'm the only "lucky" person who's been having crashes with 3.4.3...
Lucky me!!! |

What about the problem with scroll bar slider.
Still I have that problem?
What card do you have and what driver you use?
I have an ATI with radeon. I will try fglrx to see if the problem solved. |

nvidia here. As I said earlier, my centre mouse button moves the bottom slider but not the left mouse button. |

Thank you.
I don't have a middle button.
I will try openoffice if it is installed.
The problem is that happens only in the laptop.
In two desktops I have no problem. |
