OK, I have put a couple of nasty posters in my mental ignore list.
@sx9, no you are not there, don't worry, you have to be real nasty for that.
However, clogging the forum with nasty and useless posts is against netiquette and looks very unprofessional.

In fact, I have nothing but respect for the distro, and will advocate it.
But...there is a so-called moderator, and the other one who parrots his silly lines, who are on my mental ignore list, so now you know who they are.
And I will tell you exactly why.
First, I am a newcomer to aptosid, when discussing a topic I suddenly got an unprovoked torrent of abuse from the moderator, who later says that he stands corrected, after saying that he corrected my mistakes.
Talk about an incoherent and off-topic rant.
Later, he continues his bitching against me saying that I confused him, because did not state what video card I was using.
The truth is that the first post in the thread referenced another one by the title "No desktop effects on radeon card". Need I be more explicit?
The problem is that this moderator "helps" users by answering without reading the question.
He was showing me the steps to install nouveau, when I made it clear that it was already installed.
The concept of aptosid is great, but moderators (of all people) should read the policy in the manual, if you are tired or frustrated, simply don't answer.
All this bullshit turns away newcomers, just search the Internet and you will see what people are commenting about this ongoing pattern, it's all about the "attitude" of responders.
Such behaviour only helps to turn people away from the distro, and a distro that is asking for donations should take seriously reigning in these people, or simply kick them out of their high-falutin' moderator status.
Aptosid is a complex distro, expect newcomers to have lots of questions, even after reading the excellent manual, if you think that it is a waste of your precious time to answer, just don't, somebody else with more brain will.
Lastly, I have a tough skin, and give a sovereign shit about what people think or say about me.
I just want to learn and set up a productive system that I will not have to re-install when I start loading lots of customizations.
If you want to post useless rants, let it be known that I am only interested in technical issues, and will ignore anything else.
I think the administrator is damn right to close topics that drift into "meta-talk" and personal attacks. |

Now, let's get this issue sorted out with user Sordon, a link to his post is above.
This gentleman thinks that he is being clever by changing the subject of a solution to "Your posts are funny".
BTW, the solution is relevant, because Blue Devil is poorly coded: if no devices are found it should say so, instead of just dying.
Anyway, this gentleman seems to think that he is incriminating me by posting a link to my post, stating that I later "admit" that I am using an AMD card.
If he had bothered reading the very first lines of the post he would have noticed that there is a link to another post where all the relevant hardware info is meticulously documented.
Since it is rather lengthy I thought that I would link to it, instead of reproducing the whole thing.
So, we clearly see that there is no "later admission", but early given data, for those who have a brain.
In fact, my only mistake is the wrong assumption that I was dealing with normal adults.
If you don't believe me, just follow the link posted above by another user.
But, of course, Sordon does not realize that his post is self-defeating and that he is making a complete ass of himself, just like the mentor he is parroting.
If you still feel that it is relevant to link to this hogwash, please go ahead and heap ridicule on yourself, if that makes your day.
Your behaviour is also well documented in my favourite blurb.
If you don't know what that is, follow the link in my signature and scroll to the bottom.
This whole thing is utterly disgusting, and I don't intend to comment on it further. |
