Changes in openjdk-6 6b23~pre8-2 conflict with current icedtea-web available in Debian, which is why the current versions get removed while upgrading to the current openjdk-6.
Unfortunately maintenance for icedtea-web (which provides the browser plugins to make use of openjdk in browsers) in Debian is not as good as it should be. While our icedtea-web 1.1-1+c0.aptosid.1 fixed #636514, this new breakage needs maintainer attention in Debian (and is unrelated to our intermediate fix for #636514). |

So we just have to wait for the fix, right?

| Correct, the required changes are related to multi-arch introduction in Debian and need tightly coordinated uploads (and are encumbered in versioned depends/ conflicts); apparently icedtea-web is a tad neglected at the moment. |

| openjdk-7 has entered unstable today, hopefully icedtea-web (using the new version) follows soon. |

No, in fact it is not really solved.
I've installed the new version of icedtea-web without any problem but now iceweasel freezes every time there is a web java applet.
Is there anyone experiencing the same problem?

| I was having java issues when I decided to test it out, but I just got an update to openjdk and the issues seem to be resolved. |

@dpdt1: sorry, when I wrote "icedtea-web" what i really meant was: "icedtea-netx".
@alexk: thanks! I'm using your setup and everything is working fine now! |
