Just noticed that when my wireless network device is configured as "built in" in ceni the boot process stops and wait for the network to be connected before moving on and starting x, but when the setting is "hot-plug, removable device" in ceni the boot is going in to x without waiting for network to connect. The later makes boot much faster.

Am I correct in this?

Correct, the related setting "allow-hotplug" in /etc/network/interfaces puts the network connection into a background process. This is usually a fine idea, and works for all (plugable and build in) adapters.
