on x64, gimp appears to be causing trouble again. better to wait a few days to let things settle down.
Code:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
gimp

Agreed. It's not gimp's fault and most likely down to a python update.
On my system blueman, frescobaldi, gimp, lilypond, mirage and ocrfeeder are to be removed. so it's best to wait. |

Tried to install Gimp yesterday but it depended on python < 2.7 (2.7.2-7 to be installed). D-u'd this morning, then installed Gimp without trouble. amd64. |

Just figured I'd add in that python is also screwing up my dist-upgrade on pure Sid (not aptosid) as well. So definitely best to hold off on a d-u.
Code:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
libpulse-browse0 libreoffice-emailmerge python-uno
The following NEW packages will be installed:
libjson0 python2.7 python2.7-minimal rtkit
The following packages will be upgraded:
dmidecode fuse gir1.2-glib-2.0 libatk1.0-0 libatk1.0-data libffi5 libfuse2
libgirepository-1.0-1 liborc-0.4-0 libp11-kit0 libpulse-mainloop-glib0
libpulse0 libtalloc2 libtdb1 ntfs-3g pulseaudio pulseaudio-esound-compat
pulseaudio-module-x11 pulseaudio-utils python python-minimal

The most curious thing happened
DU last night took away the gimp and hplip and hplip-gui which I will need to put back into operation.
But here is something weird the HP Gui now on the desktop says... hplip-kubuntu.desktop
I never had any install stuff regarding Kubuntu
The DU was accomplished with logout to console and init 3 prior to apt-get update being started.
I did have a HP console-gui on the desktop but it changed names and does not function after DU.
how does Kubuntu fit into this equation? |

re-installed GIMP - OK now
I have a HP 2605DN four color laser printer so I need to get it to work again, so I am removing the HP console and will work with cups to see if it can function at lest in a basic mode until mystery with hp print control is sorted out.
This printer has always been something of a trouble to manage well. Not sure if it is the printer specifically (individual specific hardware problem... the printer itself.) or if it is specific to driver issues. Colors have never been right or aligned perfectly.
Not an issue with aptosid in any way, It has never worked in any variant of any Linux it has been used with, however the printer type is reported to work well... just thought I would mention it. |

Printing returned to functional again.
Removed the HP {back-end (as identified by cups)} of the system and set cups to control the printer completely.
not very difficult as both systems saw each other.
Still no reason discovered for the Kubuntu element on the hplip-gui to be both identified as one in the same on the desktop.
With a functional printer now I will not worry about it, just an unexplained mystery. (I have never had Kubuntu anywhere near this system) |

The command
$apt-cache policy hplip-kubuntu.desktop
will show which repo you accidentally added to your source list holds the package. |

Do you want to continue [Y/n]?
I'll better wait a bit |
