Most "tweaks" are useless or already enabled in modern linux distributions.

That article is from 2009 and much has changed since then. Some of the tweaks mentioned were/are security downgrades or alternate package management techniques that are not recommended with aptosid. If kde has enough memory and a good video card I don't think there are many tweaks that would make it faster. Playing with the rendering engine and video drivers, and turning some effects within kde off may make things a wee bit quicker, but not my much. As always file access times are the bottleneck... so use ext4 and a fast hard drive or SSD.

Thanks, buddies.I appreciate the hints.I have already realized there is no tweak at all.Perhaps It would be better the xfce or lxde with my sluggish outdate pentium 3 or waste some bucks to acquire a new pc.
cheers.

My tweak has a name: slh's kernels. On an old laptop with an Nvidia card I switched to Debian stock kernels because I borked an upgrade. Being back on slh's kernels: they are so freakingly fast!

Greetings to the country of soccer Gods and Ayrton Senna!
