In the last DU intent:

GNOME is in the middle of getting uploaded, it will take a few days to normalize.

on my system xfce amd64 d-u 2011-10-14 08:54:13 everything went fine
some packages will be replaced
for example have a look at the output of apt-cache depends libevince3-3

You could try to "apt-get install brasero evince" before doing the dist upgrade. In my case they could be installed fine and were no longer removed on D-U. (64bit)
