64-bit
Installed today. Have used earlier.

When I click on capture, both screens (the control and video) just vanish.

Any clue?

Try starting it from the console and put up the error message (if any)

Installed and tried cheese too, nothing happens.

I get the same thing here, even after a dist-upgrade that brought in a new ffmpeg. Seems to segfault regardless of video codec or format chosen.

dpt don't you use kde? Kamoso itself has a size of 235 kB, but depends on kde.
In General i would say avoid kde software when not using kde.

Also try luvcview directly, from cli just to be sure the gui of guvcview isn't causing the problems.

Video capture in Luvcview works for me, as well as with Kamoso, the problem is just with Guvcview.

I use kde. Have not carried out du for a long time, maybe lot of new kde stuff coming.

EDIT: yes, most kde stuff, should I go for it or do a du first?

dpt especially if you have problems you should du first. Not only as it resolves the problem possibly but also that the problem is reproducable for others.
