The bug is only appearing in the 64 bit version so the patch is for 64 bit.

I noticed the artifacts in certain videos too, i thought it had to do with the BBC site.
Code:
# apt-cache policy bsdiff
bsdiff:
Installed: 4.3-10
Candidate: 4.3-10
Code:
/usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree# bspatch libflashplayer.so libflashplayer.so2 memcpy-10.3.162.29.bsdiff
bspatch: fopen(memcpy-10.3.162.29.bsdiff): No such file or directory
What's wrong or what am i doing wrong? |

did you fetch http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugrepor ... bug=620901 and place it in /usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree? before issuing those commands?

I'd been living with this bug for months, as it only affected certain web sites, before I finally tried to fix it and found this thread. I don't tend to upgrade Adobe Flashplayer much and so didn't realize that this issue had been fixed in an update, as is stated on the Debian bug page. I decided to try a Flash update before I checked out the bug page.
Code:
update-flashplugin-nonfree --install

The version of Flash you have is rather old now...Flash 11 is out and is a native 64 bit plugin as well. |

Yes, I didn't even check the version before I upgraded, but looking at /var/cache/flashplugin-nonfree, it looks like it was version 10.2 from Nov. 17, 2010. Now, I can watch all the stupid pet videos on Yahoo with good sound ... It was also annoying for news video on some sites. |

Now that I found out this is a Flash bug, maybe it's time to just uninstall the thing: http://occupyflash.org/ HTML5 |

In due time you won't really need the Flash plugin once HTML5 really takes off...goodbye Flash crashes and bugs!
Future apps in the workplace should also move away from Flash based apps to HTML5 as well as supporting the latest browsers. |

@alexk thanks for the reminder... I completely forgot I had to manually update flash. I should add that update to a weekly cron job. As much as I don't like the flash code on my computer, having it was one of the major reasons I was able to get my wife to try linux, and my 2yr old likes to play flash games on it too.... I want to get a video of "I'm two and I like linux". |

Adobe is now targeting Flash for desktops/notebooks so here's hoping they'll get off their duffs and make it work for those apps that need it.
Nice..a 2 year old that likes Linux
A future Linux kernel developer he/she could be :^) |
