When I install a new kernel I like to boot in init 3. Doing so lets me read the booting messages (Better than dmesg because it even has colors), but now just before the login prompt appears the screen is cleared and can't read the messages anymore. How do I revert this?

add --noclear at

1:2345:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 tty1

in /etc/inittab.
