I have the Realtek ALC889A onboard card.
The main problem is the microphone is not working.
Also, in windows the sound is louder and better.
The driver installed is the correct ( ALC889A).
The funny think is in windows does not play when I attach the speakers in the front panel of the case while in aptosid plays very well. |

Did you try fiddling with the mixer window sliders and switches ?
* right click on the kmix speaker icon from the tray -> "show mixer window"
* click mixer |

Thanks for the help, now it works ....
I had to enable capture options in kmix and then select the appropriate card option (it has analog, digital & HDMI). After some fine tuning in other kmix options, finally i got my microphone working
It still does not work under windows but I am not going to search for a solution |

Since I have the same card, and front mic is not enabled, what card option have you used? |
