Hello all!
I installed "Ponos" (64 bit) at the end of february 2012 and it worked well on a workstation (Mail- and Backupserver).
Three days ago I made a first d-u and got after reboot:
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
unknown-block(0,0)
Pid: 1, comm: swapper Not tainted 3.1-6.slh.1-aptosid-amd64 #1
The strange thing is, after installing "Ponos" (64 bit) again from DVD, I get now the same error messages after reboot (without d-u).
What could I do?
Best regards,
Leila |

Not strange at all, in the context of a corrupted or failing hdd. Better boot a Live CD, mount your data filesystem, and backup everything you can.
Then you can try fsck on the filesystem, but probably you need to learn this song:
"Bye-bye Mr. Hard Drive -- it was great knowing you, while you were still alive .....". |

Thank you, dibl, for answering!
I didn't think that the hard-drive could be corrupted, because
the workstation is only 2.5 months old.
I will bring it back to where I bought it. There is a guarantee period of 2 years!
So, it's not too hard for me singing your nice song ...
Best regards, Leila |
