When I want to start iceweasel I get

      Code:
XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/xulrunner-10.0/libxpcom.so:
libxul.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load XPCOM.

And icedove says

      Code:
XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/lib/icedove/libxpcom.so:
libnss3.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load XPCOM.

I have already seen this thread but it did not work for me:http://www.aptosid.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=2364

This is an old bug from 2011 that has been claimed to be fixed, but, some people are still having problems with it.

I would try purging

xulrunner
xulrunner-dev (if installed)
iceweasel

      Code:
apt-get clean && apt-get update && apt-get install iceweasel

I cannot test this or try to reproduce it as I no longer use iceweasel (i use nightly firefox)

I just --purge removed Iceweasel 10 and Icedove 10 and installed Iceweasel 16 and Icedove 16 from the experimental repository and both still won't start.

Ouch, try again (purge) and remove the .mozilla folder in home and then reinstall
