Kernel 3.10.1.slh.3 allowed acces to my camera when it is plugged in to usb ports.
3.10.3, and subsequent kernels do not.
dmesg shows the camera to have been correctly recognised but it is not accessible. Attempting to mount it from the command line reports that it is not "not a valid block device". Booting the earlier kernel allows access in the normal way.
Update:8/8/13 13:54
Leaving the camera connected eventually, and repeatedly, attaches it as sdc after 8.25 mins. This with either of two cards in it. A usb stick is accessible immediately, as usual.
Strange.
Update: 12/8/13 15.31
Looks like I've been bitten by this scsi kernel bug.

Resolved.
Kernel 3.10-9.slh.1-aptosid-amd64 (Debian 3.10-22) has solved this problem. |
