Hi all posters,

I cannot get graphics to work on the aforementioned cd - the screen is just completely unusable.

I have a radeon 2400 hd pro graphics card.

Even pressing ctrl+alt+f2 does not help as the graphics are garbled.

Works ok on my sony vaio laptop with intel chipset though.

tia for any help.

Boot the cd with radeon.modeset=0 as bootcheat.

You should install firmware-linux-nonfree, then the problem will be gone.

Why from live-cd?
Boot your install the 1st time with tche sam cheatcode + 1, then install the firmwae-package, then reboot.

@towo

The penny dropped over night. I can edit grub menu directly when the menu is there on bootup. hence I am writting this from within aptosid.

Cheers Very Happy
