I have gone through the net.
http://www.sane-project.org/cgi-bin/dri ... ;v=&p=
This is a scanner, no driver specifically for this model in SANE,
unsupported, backends included in development repo.
Maybe a matter of time.
Thanks. |

| If you want a supported scanner, you can't go wrong with an Epson one |

@dpt
Not a Lide100 but I've got an USB supported CanoScan Lide25 working fine here. I don't know if this is the general way for Canon ones but I can tell you what I've done in my case:
firstly
connect the scanner to an usb port,
in a terminal
root@MBox:/home/idefix# sane-find-scanner
Code:
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x2220 [CanoScan], chip=LM9832/3) at libusb:002:004
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
# Not checking for parallel port scanners.
# Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
# can't be detected by this program.
scanimage -L brings up
Code:
root@MBox:/home/idefix# scanimage -L
device `plustek:[b]libusb:002:004[/b]' is a Canon CanoScan LiDE25 flatbed scanner
scanimage -T -d plustek:libusb:002:004
Test gui scanner operation : xsane
Everything works fine, if you need other informations or output, please let me know.

@Deepdayze
Thanks. Already got what I thought was best value for money. Plus I was pretty impressed with Canon camera service who replaced CCD free of cost 2 years after purchase, without any purchase bill.
@leon
I will try today and put in feed back. Thanks |

sorry I gave the solution in german.
in english:
1.) as root: apt-get install libusb-dev build-essential libsane-dev
2.) as root: apt-get install git-core
3.) git clone git://git.debian.org/sane/sane-backends.git
4.) cd sane-backends
5.) ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var
6.) make <--- this one takes a while
7.) as root: sudo make install
8.) as root: gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules
Append the following lines:
# Canon CanoScan Lide 100
ATTRS{idVendor}=="04a9", ATTRS{idProduct}=="1904", ENV{libsane_matched}="yes"
9.) add scanner in file /etc/sane.d/genesys.conf (as root):
# Canon LiDE 100
usb 0x04a9 0x1904
10.) reboot |

Mine is not a Canon but an HP Officejet J6413 but I cannot use it via xsane or skanlite.
But this works:
Code:
scanimage -T -d hpaio:/usb/Officejet_J6400_series?serial=MY84A4B0GY04ZX
? |

Found the solution in the old forum.
Just set RUN=yes in /etc/default/saned |

Unfortunately it doesn't work for me.
I did all the steps mentioned before. r
Result:
Quote:
root@siduxbox:/home/anja# gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/40-libsane.rules
** (gedit:2420): WARNING **: Could not load theme icon system-file-manager: Symbol »system-file-manager« nicht im Thema vorhanden
root@siduxbox:/home/anja# sane-find-scanner
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x1904 [CanoScan], chip=GL847) at libusb:002:002
# Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
# SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
# Not checking for parallel port scanners.
# Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
# can't be detected by this program.
root@siduxbox:/home/anja# scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
root@siduxbox:/home/anja#
Could somebody give me a hint what's wrong?
best regards

@wintux:
under KDE you can use kwrite ([ALT+F2] -> kdesu kwrite)
It might be you don't have "gedit" installed (it's a gnome-programm).
It also might be your file is named "/lib/udev/rules.d/60-libsane.rules" - just look for [XX]-libsane.rules in the directory /lib/udev/rules.
After the whole procedure, maybe you will have to unplug and replug your scanner or even do a reboot.
In one case I first had to uninstall my existing sane installation (as root: apt-get purge sane).
But remember: after an upgarde of sane or udev you probably will have to re-edit the files or even reinstall sane-backends. For doing the installation of sane-backends from git-repository I first had to install several parts of tex - if you get several failure-notices concerning tex-???? while doing "make" you will also have to do so.
Good luck. |
