Does thishappen on an installed system? If yes, then your system is absolutely broken. I know nothing worse than an I/O error, because you can't read neither write or delete the file; "stucks" on that part of the filesystem. Have you done a hard reboot (reset-button) during the boot process?
Well, your filesystem doesn't seem to be clean.
Boot the CD and make a fsck.ext4 on your disk (as root).
If the error is irrepairable with fsck ask someone else here or reinstall your system (make a backup of all needed files before - if possible)
If this has happened on a CD, get a new one and re-burn it (max. x8 Speed and Disk-at-once). |

I don't know if that has too do with it, but try to use aptosid 686. |

no, there is nothing wrong with the iso on the server.
i have no idea where this error could come from, it sounds like a corrupt CD.
You can also upgrade your sidux install to aptosid. no need to reinstall.

That was my idea, too. Like I said: Get a new disk and re-burn it.
Here a little tip:
Download ISO and md5sum into one folder.
Open a Terminal and switch to this folder:
cd /[path to iso]
for example:
cd /home/sx9/aptosid/
and do:
md5sum [name of the iso]
Then execute a nice script from our dev-team. It burns all iso's in the current directory.
burniso
You can also do:
cd [path to iso folder] && md5sum [iso filename] && burniso |

Follow SX9's last instruction about using "burniso" or make sure you're using a slow speed burn if you use another program. It is easy to create a corrupt live cd by burning too fast. You are correct to use the amd64 version on the i3, the 686 version is 32 bit and I don't recommend you use it on your hardware. |
