ike and dibl - Thanks for info. I take your word for it (I don't have an installed system - I am using live system and variations of poor mans install and persist and fromiso etc)

The problem is relevant for users who need to use a live linux for its many uses for recovery purposes, and also who just like using and 'playing and experimenting'.

As I said I don't have an installed system, does sux/debus-launch work from a completely fresh 'virgin' install from the dvd, or is a dist-upgrade also required?

Hopefully anyway it will be fixed by next release, but only if the devs are aware there is a problem.

A temp fix of using "xhost +" as above does seem to work for 'live' users.

cheers

To all at aptosid team and contributors

Over the years I have been using almost exclusively kanotix sidux and now aptosid, simply because it is the best.

(99% of the time I use a live system and add extra software by adding extra layers of aufs (previously unionfs) with a script at startup, just the way I like to do it!)

Your great work is very much appreciated.

thanks to all
cheers
