My audio playback first stopped. 64-bit Keres KDE with wine.

The speakers now scream on boot, I have to switch-off by power-switch.

After declaring the root as clean, the cacophony continues and machine hangs or

I see 'starting early crypto disks....... with the siren like sound.

Working OK with W7.

Any help? I can reinstall but would like to know and solve.

Thanks.

Wild guess: could it be your microphone feedbacking? Check if the mixer has microphone audio enabled (to send it to the speakers, not for capture).

Possible, but since I was unable to boot and could not interpret the message, I reinstalled.

Thanks.

I guess the problem is based on a task that is being resumed on reboot.
I can reproduce this when playback of a movie/audio file and hibernating. On restart the speakers are 'screaming' and you have to kill the task doing the playback.
I think on bootup your desktop tries to re-initiate a task that was not properly shutdown ...
