Post subject: acer aspire 3000, gui crashes on logout

I just installed aptsid on my brothers old aspire 3000, its got a rotten integrated sis graphics card. It runs fine though, but when logging out of kde I get thrown to tty1, and have to issue init 3,followed by init 5 to get back to login screen. alt+ctrl F6 (whatever that is called) is just a blank black screen, something is running though, cs i have to kill x to restart it. Ctrl+alt+backspace doesn't do it.
Any suggestions?
Edit: changing to tty from login screen causes the same effect |

| Can you put up lspci to list the hardware? The devs may be interested in that |
