G'day folks I'm currently looking into installing aptosid on a Toshiba U300/302 (psu30a-05302p).
I've been reading up on fingerprint reader support and found out that the current effort is developing libfprint0.
The laptop has a UPEK-SGS/Thomson Microelectronics fingerprint reader connected via the USB bus.
I've booted aptosid 2010-03 (live) and run lsusb as root in a terminal.
The fingerprint reader is detected correctly.
Edit: I neglected to mention the USB ID is 0483:2016
My question is this, does the current version of libprint0 support the SGS/Thomson.
Or will I need to trackdown additional firmware/drivers.
Cheers. |

| You're welcome. As it happens, I have the same device (on ThinkPad) but I don't use it currently. Would be cool if I used it but last time I checked, there wasn't really a satisfying integration with KDE. That was in KDE3 though. I should find time to check again what the situation is now. Would love to hear your experience with it though. |

No worries mate I'll keep you up to date on any progress I make.
As it's for a friends laptop, who lives a fair distance from me, it will be some time between updates.
Cheers. |
