I experience strange behaviour with copy & paste in kate. When copying text from one open file to another the text in the file where I copied it from suddenly disappears I wonder if it's some kind of settings. Do you experience the same thing or don't you know please how to fix it? |

You do not need to reinstall.
First remove all relevant config files from ~/.kde directory. |

Assuming you copy with control+C, not with control+X |

Haha, very funny
Actually the problem is still there. I don't even need to ctrl+C It's just enough to select the text and when I switch to another open file in Kate and back to the original one, the text has disappeared ??
Are there any other relevant file apart from those in .kde/{config,apps}? |

It doesn't seem to be dut to klipper. It it doesn't run I can still experience the problem.
It is quite annoying because it's quite handy to copy text from one file to another but it's not that funny if it always cuts the text, even if it's only highlighted. |

Why not use kwrite?
Always worked well for me. |

Kwrite is ok but kate has this multiple files management which I use when translating the manual. |

vim also has multiple files management with -p and :tabnew and gt
which I use for manual translation. ;)
-- with GUI editors, I had problem with html syntax highlighing and Japanese input.
so I'm fixed with vim for manual translation.
OT to the thread, though. |

What I do when I have such problems is to create a plain new user and see whether the problem persist there. |

I just realized that I have the same problem using kwrite.
When I copy some text and past it to (i.e) chromium then when I switch back to kwrite the text is gone.
Actually it is there.... if I select all the text ctrl+a it appears again. |
