Just for documentation, those might be related existing Debian bug reports:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=570638
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=593810
Investigating further.
Greetings,
Chris

I rarely use my HP printer, model LaserJet 1012, connected by USB. So I don't know if this problem will occur for me.

Here's my info if it might help:

Using two printers HP Officejet J5780 All-in-One and HP Laserjet 1320 both directly connected by USB. Current setup and kernel have no problems printing.

Although I still have the same version of CUPS and hplip-cups (but with kernel 2.6.37-0.slh.18-aptosid-amd64), it seems that I am not running into this problem anymore... So, was this problem indeed fixed with the new kernel?

EDIT: it seems that my desktop, which still runs 2.6.37-0.slh.12-aptosid-amd64 also it not having this problem anymore... What happened then?

I also have not had a problem after a recent dist-upgrade and kernel upgrade. I don't know if it was the kernel or something else.

I had that issue a few days ago but I've never used any HP printer, only a Canon via turboprint. With the latest d-u a new cups version was installed and the problem is gone here.

cups-pdf no longer works for me (I don't have a physical printer on my home computer). Today I did a dist-upgrade and kernel upgrade but the problem still exists.

Edit: a few minutes ago I used the HP "printer toolbox" untility (in the "systems" menu) and reinstalled the cups-pdf driver. All seems to now be working.
