Hi,
maybee I get here in the english forum additional hints for my problem.
On my Lenovo G550 is a Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g [14e4:4315] (rev 01) wlan card onboard.
I always use the wl module, caus the b43 doesn't work fine for me.
On Thursday I made the change from sidux to aptosid, all went ok. The last step was to install the current kernel, after the reboot I the wlan connection won't work, neither with wl nor b43. Always I try to scan the betworks (ceni or wpasupplicant)I got no result. This is not completly true, sometimes I got a result, and a connection but after a few time it broke.
I tried a few hints I got in the german forum, but I have no success.
What I tried:
new build from wl, blacklist b43, ssb
completly purge of broadcom-sta-* no wl more
option settings pio=1 for b43, DMA error from dmesg is solved
an other things I forget no,...
When I against in front of my laptop, I handed the output from lspci and dmesg later.

edit:
solved. see german communty forum |

So you can't get any help!
But
activate non-free in your sources
install firmware-b43-lpphy-installer
rmmod b43 && modprobe b43
start ceni to configure your network |

infobash -v3 says:

the wierd part is that until a few hours ago (and for months) both lspci and infobash said i have a Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11a/b/g
my machine is a HP Compaq 6715b laptop, and the technical documentation says none of these two wlan cards (BCM4312 and BCM5787M) are shipped with this model
any help on how should i start enabling this wlan ? maybe opening the laptop case and reading what's saying on the card ? |

lspci | grep -i net
You can try firmware-b43-installer, but if this also not work, you need the propritary broadcom-sta, which is crap. |

Quote:
$ lspci | grep -i net
10:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM5787M Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02)
i opened the laptop case and the chipset is BCM4311KFBG
edit:
i installed
Quote:
firmware-b43-installer
and now lspci shows
Quote:
$ lspci | grep "BCM"
10:00.0 Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetLink BCM5787M Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express (rev 02)
30:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11a/b/g (rev 02)
the bad thing is that ceni does not show the wireless card, only the LAN one |

| stupid me, i forgot to
Quote:
modprobe b43
now ceni sees it, and i can connect to wireless networks
so, all in all, what i did was:
Quote:
apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
i rebooted (don't know if it was necessary)
then
Quote:
modprobe b43
(in other postes i saw they first removed it, in case it was already loaded and then activated it, which means "modprobe -r b43 && modprobe b43")
THANK YOU! |

hi, from the sidux wiki:
http://sidux.com/index.php?module=Wikul ... rkBroadcom
i have a broadcom 4312 card and it is working fine with the slh.16 kernel for me
Code:
root@moros:/home/ike# infobash -v3
Host/Kernel/OS "moros" running Linux 2.6.37-0.slh.16-aptosid-686 i686 [ sidux 2009-04 Μόρος - kde-lite - (200912310312) ]
CPU Info VIA C7-M 128 KB cache flags( sse3 nx ) clocked at [ 1000.000 MHz ]
Videocard VIA , CN896/VN896/P4M900 [Chrome 9 HC] X.Org 1.7.7 [ 1280x768@60.0hz ]
Network cards Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5788 Gigabit
Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY
Processes 112 | Uptime 19min | Memory 178.3/1770.9MB | HDD ST9120817AS Size 136GB (1%used) | GLX Renderer Software Rasterizer | GLX Version Yes | Client Shell | Infobash v3.34
i build the modules for each new kernel with "m-a a-i broadcom-sta"
the most difficult part is remembering to "modprobe wl"
EDIT with the slh.16 kernel i did have trouble with one system. i usually never touch the wifi switch, but this time i had to "modprobe -r wl" and modprobe wl and fiddle with the wifi switch before ceni's wifi scan would give me values. |

thanks towo, i will give it a try. i'm usually too lazy to stray from the evil that i know, but in this case moving to an oss driver would be a very happy change.
