I messed up something. When I run apt-get, I get the following message and can't install anything any more. Can someone please help fix it?

You should remove the references to sidux. The transition period is over so your system should either be converted already or you have to reinstall with aptosid as the switch from sidux to aptosid is no longer supported.

Further more, as APT tells you here: remove the duplicated entries. But as devil said, post your *.list's and we will try to help you with that.

Here are my files in /etc/apt/sources.list.d:

aptosid.list debian_1.list debian_3.list google-earth.list sidux_1.list sidux.list
debian_0.list debian_2.list debian.list sidux_0.list sidux_2.list

# cat aptosid.list
deb http://aptosid.com/debian/ sid main fix.main

# cat google-earth.list
### THIS FILE IS AUTOMATICALLY CONFIGURED ###
# You may comment out this entry, but any other modifications may be lost.
deb http://dl.google.com/linux/earth/deb/ stable main

cat sidux.list
deb http://sidux/debian sid main fix.main

# cat debian.list
deb http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ sid main
#deb-src http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ sid main

# Multimedia lists for commerical dvd movie play

Time for some houseclening! Personally I like to have only one sources.list, however multiple files are fine too (it's your choice).

1. I suspect all the *_?.list files are revised backups. Apt will process everything with a *.list format. Delete all these old files or rename to something like *_?.bak. Delete sidux.list.

2. Make sure that /etc/apt/sources.list file contains only # commented text.

3. Read the manual here: http://manual.aptosid.com/en/sys-admin-apt-en.htm

Success! I did as you suggested. Added .bak to all *.list files except

aptosid.list debian.list google-earth.list

Everything works well now. Thanks very much for your assistance.

Aptosid is the best operating system I have ever used. It is great!
