Can anyone recommend an alternative to iTunes that works well for Linux(aptosid)? I tried GTKpod with little success. Thankyou.

Amarok. I don't have an ipod now but I think directly or with a plugin can work very good.

When you plug your iPod into a USB port it is not detected as a storage device? One more reason to avoid (Cr)apple products.

My Sandisk Sansa Clip is detected in both WinXP and Linux as a removeable storage device. Any music player that saves playlists in m3u format can be used to create playlists...no special software required.

I agree with you kb0hae whole heartedly! I am not a Apple zombie but I received the iPod Nano 8G as a gift some years ago, so I thought to give it another go. GTKpod and Banshee seem to mount the iPod and do begin to transfer mp3 files but somehow get corrupted or something. I find companies like Apple to be more proprietory than Macheads tend to believe. Has anyone tried Clementine?
