Hi

I tried my best to search but I think I need a tip for installing on a system with a Realtek 8169 NIC. I understand the lack of non-free firmware in Aptosid but this is the NIC card. I have no network so following the non-free section doesn't due me much good. Am I supposed to go to another computer (my MAC) and download the stuff I need?

Thanks
Kev

you have to enable non-free in sources (manual helps on this)

download to a usb stick or use fish/sftp/smb/etc to access from another computer

      Code:
apt-get update
apt-get install firmware-realtek
modprobe -r r8169
modprobe r8169

the latest will be

firmware-realtek_0.29_i386.deb

found at

/var/cache/apt/archives

Thanks.

I found

http://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/pool/no ... 29_all.deb

which is for all architectures. Is that the correct one?

Thanks
Kev
