I have convinced my father to leave windows and I have replaced the old PCs with two new computers with aptosid.
Apart the problems of environment I have a problem that is driving me mad
A computer has an integrated intel video card, i have installed firmware non-free for secure.
I wish that I add the second monitor shows a second Desktop/Activity/X Session.
The two screens should be independent of the other but the main monitor can switched to another in order to change such as the video advertising or other.
I am doing tests on test, I can do something only with activity but when I switch, switch both while should not happen.
This I can do this by setting the second monitor that is right the other.
How can I do?
The aim would be to have the second monitor a video advertisement or open other programs controlled by the principal.
If it's a desktop or a activity or an X session I do not care that addresses the important thing is XD |

What you want to achieve is not very clear to me.
Anyway, read "man xrandr" for start,
(in case you don't use proprietary graphic driver). |

I have read the aptosid manual, i have a intelintegrated graphics integrated video card.
I want to make a 2 monitor indipendent with two desktop or two x session, the main monitor must be able to see the other.
with xrandr i can make a only big monitor splitted in two while i don't want this. |

I don't understand yet. 8(
Now, if your two monitors on same PC shows two x sessions, then, when
you press a keyboard, or you move the mouse, which x server should respond?
(... actaully, I used quingy for some time, it opened another xsession on
another tty... on framebuffer. I could have two xsessions, one KDE/fvwm, etc.,
one awesome/fluxbox/openbox, etc... with one monitor. In this case, PC knows
which tty is current, so keypress and mouse were redirected to the session...
I could even have extra X session while in init 3... )
I can see one solution... you put two monitor in one X session, (dual monitor setting)
then in one, you login as another user with "ssh -X"... you don't get another "desktop",
but you can run X applications as another user, on separated monitors... |

The manual tells you using dual monitor with one x-session.
I wrote the suggestion, ssh login with -X option in terminal.
and you asked how to configure it, I understood "it" means dual monitor,
and told it's on the manual.
If it is not what you meant, I don't understand the communication... 8)
If "it" does not mean my suggestion, then I don't know any other solution, sorry.
-- you didn't even answer my question about key board and mouse input... |
