Post subject: [Installer] Windows Key Mapped Wrong  PostPosted: 03.04.2011, 15:32

On a default US/english install of Aptosid, the windows key is mapped to another key as described here.

For a US/american keyboard layout, the Windows key should probably not be mapped to something else. This had me thinking my Openbox shortcuts weren't working until I realized it was only the windows key affected, and then I found that website.

Hi

For german keyboard layout its the same here.

I am running awesome WM and need to add the
      Code:
xmodmap -e 'keycode 133 = Super_L'

to my startup script to get the left Windows-Key working. The right one is working fine from start.

Also when attaching a external keyboard to my laptop I need to rerun the xmodmap call.

I dont know if this is a similar issue, but on awesome wm i need to run
      Code:
setxkbmap de

at startup to be able to use the correct layout

I find making the change in /etc/default/keyboard is more system-wide and permanent. In my case I change...
      Code:
# change:
    XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_switch,compose:lwin,grp:alt_shift_toggle"

# to:
    XKBOPTIONS="lv3:ralt_switch,grp:alt_shift_toggle"
