A dist-upgrade -s reveals that the packages hpijs-ppds and hplip will be removed. As far as I understand it, this is caused by the upgrade of everything related to 3.11.1-2+b1, except hpijs-ppds, which depends on hpijs (= 3.11.1-2). There should be no harm in putting hplip and hpijs on hold until this is resolved.

dist-upgrade just now did not remove hplip 3.11.1-2+b1 on aptosid64 (hpijs-ppds not installed, because not needed here).
Greetings,
Chris

hplip - are the dependencies incorrect?

apt-cache unmet hplip
Paket hplip Version 3.11.1-2+b1 hat eine unerfüllte Abhängigkeit:
Hängt ab von: libsane-hpaio (= 3.11.1-2)

on my sytem (xfce, amd64) apt-get dist-upgrade installed libsane-hpaio (3.11.1-2+b1)
hplip (3.11.1-2) removed - now no HP-fax connected. scanner and printer are working.

ciao. jbl

In 32 bit still they are to be removed.

in fact i removed those programs by accident and I "was forced" to downgrade them from testing in order to use the printer.

At the moment I have them on hold.

Today no hplip* package is going to be removed anymore on 32bit. So IMHO this topic can be marked as solved.
