hi folks
,
why i can't hear sound / PCM in "xawtv" since 2.6.39... ?

And no sound in "youtube" since kernel 3.0.x ???

( or since KDE 4.5/or 4.6 ...) with ALC88x realtek ... (firmware checked via: "fw-detect")

wie kann es sein ...how could it be ...

Kernel 2.6.38-6.slh.1-aptosid-686 i686
alles wunderbar: tadellos zu hören ist/ i can hear all wonderful ?

aber mit den Kernels danach nicht/but not with newer ones like : 2.6.39-0...and >

Was lädt der NEUE KERNEL NICHT ?
what audio-things the newer kernel can't load ?

Mit xawtv ist bei funktionierendem kernel 2.6.38-6 der audio-sound bei kmix: bei "LINE" zu regeln.

Frage: wieso hör ich kein sound bei xawtv
>2.6.38-6 was ist da im kernel anders ???

Hi piper Smile

well - in kmix /Kanäle einrichten= channels organisize...in english or so ...
all options are the same - like in kernel-2.6.38-6.
All my sliders are up and nothing is muted.
btw: only the sound in "xawtv" is "muted"/off
all other sounds in the system (2.6.39...) are fine.

Could it be - a kind of: split audio settings in kernel-bootup or so ?

strange

hw 0,0 for ALC888
hw 1,0 for Bt87x
hw 1,1 for Bt87x analog
hw 0,1 for ALC888 digital
hw 0,2 for ALC888 analog

?

Try these commands with xawtv open
      Code:
A            Audio on/off
+/-          Volume up/down (keypad)
Enter        mute (keypad)

If you have a "LINE IN" cable, unplug it and plug it back in or try another jack for testing purposes

Hi rueX,

I have the same problem. xawtv works well with 2.6.38.* branch, but no sound with 2.6.39.* and newest 3.0.
Did you solve this problem?

Hi slack,

sorry nobody can help ...

( only a bad way: install guvcview - then in start it - then go to audio and press 1-2x defaults )

it is a problem in aptosid to bring bt878 up / or to bring hda-intel up ( in Kanotix it-s running fine)

Yes, there are Changes to V4L2 on which i am trying to get more information, too.
The problem is that there is a argument change to a ioctl call. If you run xawtv from console and try to mute/unmute and some other it doesnt work and you can see messages regarding to it on the console.
This should not be, because it uses VIDOC_S_CTRL and not VIDIOC_S_CTRL_OLD but i think there also need to be the latest headers in /usr/include/linux what is not the case on distro supplied headers.

Hi all,

I installed fresh snapshot for xawtv3 (http://git.linuxtv.org/xawtv3.git) and it works with sound under kernel 3.0.4!
