Because I think aptosid rocks, I wrote a review of it:
http://www.jacmoe.dk/aptosid-reviewed

It's probably not the best review ever - it's actually my first! but I hope that you take it as a token of appreciation for all the good, hard work you do.

Thanks! Smile

I have not installed aptosid for along time now, fortunately no problems with du that I do after about 2-3 months using -d option (after download I take a look at the forums for warnings for a day or2), then when I feel secure I du.
But as far as I remember the Live CD installer tells you about the partition (and lets you choose too)where it is going to get installed. I do not believe in separate /home partion but certaily use different partitions for data. Some NTFS formated as I need to use W$.

You could have mentioned that aptosid installs damn fast, the light takes about 5 minutes in my moderate single-core machine. Some have done in less than 2 minutes. It also boots fast and best part, it shuts down fast. It recognizes the latest hardware too.

EDIT: Typing error removed

Thanks for the feed-back - I'll change/clarify the article. Smile
I think the issue with the installer was that I used a separate /home directory - and I wondered if aptosid would format that, or leave it alone.
AFAIK, it only touches the main mount point, am I right?
The partition setup stage is always one of the (too) exiting moments of any distribution installation. Wink

Applied the suggested changes - it's better now.
Writing a review is actually a challenging exercise. Smile

there is no recommended way to write aptosid even if the home page writes it almost 100% as lowercase.
lowercase only was for sidux (requiem in pace)

btw read the second tab content:

It's said there on the Checkbox: Set mountpoints for other Partitions ... ( will not be formatted automatically )

You're right - I guess I managed to overlook that label - paragraph removed. It's not aptosid's fault that I didn't see it. Smile

The Wikipedia article is very strict about all lower-case letters, but I guess you shouldn't trust that source completely. Wink

To write a good review you have know very well what you write about.

It takes time to know, you have to see, memorize, see, correct, refresh, recorrect, refresh... well a couple of
cycles. Writing review of a new subject is in no way easy.

I do not remember reading that aptosid need not be spelt with lower case. So I am stuck with lower case for aptosid.

I shall say - Good Effort. Not seen the edited one yet.

"aptosid is made up of 2 words, Firstly apto which is a Latin word which means to fit, adapt, adjust, make ready, or fit. The second word is sid and is the codename of Debian's unstable branch."

You have written "to fit" two times; but this part of making a review belongs to the most annoying ones: Finding and correcting the errors Smile
Even in this post I have written I needed to correct 5 or 6 spelling mistakes. (Hint: Don't write (longer) texts with an iPod or another mobile device while having automatic error correction in another language (here: german) enabled Wink )
