I saw that KDE 4.6 is in sid so I wanted to know when it is expected "if there is" short-term a new version of aptosid.

Today I downloaded the KDE-LITE 2011-01 version for a machine. I should perhaps wait for a few days, download and install the upcoming version. It has been quite some time since the last release.

My users (clients) too keep on blaming me for the delays in release of newer software
and/or hardware of microcontroller based products.
It ultimately takes its own time, if it is to be released without any painful bug.
For me testing takes a lot of time, I assume that same too applies to aptosid.
Normally experienced developers get used to the pressures and just iignore them. |

To give some more insight, here are some issues/tasks we need to solve/wait for/do (as far as I know, there might be more):
Iceweasel 5 hitting sid (it's in experimental already) + testing;
QT4 upgrades complete and testing with all relevant apps;
new artwork ready and testing;
bios+gtp installer patches + testing;
check open bugs in our forums;
test all latest patches to aptosid specific packages;
prepare release notes;
find a proper build and release window.
So, we will not release today or tomorrow, but quite soon - definitely before Christmas.
Greetings,
Chris |

Thanks, slam, for the update. Although I fully support "release when it is ready", it is good to hear updates like that, so that at least one has an idea of what is going on.
(That being said, I'm rarely interested in releases... That's one of the beauties of a rolling distribution.)
Thanks again,
Luis |
