Hi,

Ever since my last D-U a day or two ago iceweasel has been crashing on me at random. I am not sure what is causing it but when I run it from the konsole I get the following message after it closes on me. This message is in the konsole window and not a dialog box.The iceweasel window just dissappears.

The message is the following
      Quote:
firefox-bin: res_query.c:251: __libc_res_nquery: Assertion `hp != hp2' failed.
Aborted

Has anyone seen this before? I am running iceweasel version 4.0 on AMD64. If anyone needs more info on anything else let me know.

Thanks

There is no Iceweasel 4.0 in Debian:
      Code:
# apt-cache policy iceweasel
iceweasel:
  Installiert: (keine)
  Kandidat:    3.5.19-3
  Versionstabelle:
     5.0-2 0
        101 http://ftp.at.debian.org/debian/ experimental/main amd64 Packages
     3.5.19-3 0
        500 http://ftp.at.debian.org/debian/ sid/main amd64 Packages

You can install 5.0 from experimental, or wait for it to migrate to Sid.
Greetings,
Chris

Most of my addons are not working at the moment in v5.
So if you need the addons better wait a couple of days/weeks.

I installed iceweasel 4.0 from experimental a while ago. That's how I got it. I can wait for 5.0 to come in. I can live with the crashing issue. I just thought I would post about it to see if anyone else has run into this.

Thanks

In your profile directory of iceweasel exist two *.mfasl files. They are used to cache components of the GUI. If you have problems with firefox/iceweasel it often helps to quit the browser, delete these files and restart the browser. The files are generated automatically again on restart.

A bug in libc6 this is: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=632252

Affecting not only iceweasel btw. But it seems to happen only on amd64 and kind of "at random".
