Is there a way to log a kernel panic.
I keep getting them since a couple of weeks and I would like to know why. |

serial- or network console, worst case would be using a digital camera to catch the screen messages. |

Hm, last weeks i had many panics. There was one problem when i started iceweasel, the hole system freezed instantly, no log, no screen messages. no hdd activity, no nothing.
the problem was away after a kernel update. |

I've had some complete system freezes in 2.6.37 kernels in the last couple of months, so that I went back to 2.6.36 and have stayed away from 2.6.38 so far. I also checked my RAM and HD and other things without finding any issues. But then the power supply on that box died on Saturday, so I'll have to troubleshoot some more when I get the new psu. I was also getting a sporadic USB error on boot with a message like "can't enumerate on port 5".
Edit: Scratch that, it looks it's the motherboard that died. |
