I am giving Chromium a try and it all seems fine but I keep getting error about Flash being out of date although it works OK I see you can disable this error popup but what is the best option.I am using Debian Flash nonfree which works fine with Iceweasel.

Thanks Chris that has fixed it, I wrongly assumed the Flash in the repros was up to date.

In the repo, there is no flash. flashplugin-nonfree is only a script, which downloads and install the flashplugin from adobe.

I am using aptosid on my Toshiba Satellite A100 and tried the same command:

      Code:
update-flashplugin-nonfree --install

I got this message:

      Code:
ERROR: sha512sum rejected install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz
More information might be available at:
  http://wiki.debian.org/FlashPlayer

Can anyone help?

Or you can manually download the tar.gz and unpack it then place the libflashplayer.so into the Mozilla plugins directory in your home directory usually ~/.mozilla/plugins.

Is there an alternative to non-free flash?

You can try Gnash:

It seems I already have the following already installed but does seem to work:

browser-plugin-gnash, gnash and gnash-common

I just downloaded install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz. I am not familiar with tarballs, how do I install it? Thankyou.

HashKeys are still behind current flash version. I send the debain maintainer a message to update them.

I thankyou very much Sprinter1. I just did not understand the HashKey error and thought
I did something wrong or I broke my debian box due to my habit of tinkering with Linux.
