Here you can find an interesting app: a font-end to wicd intented for KDE!
I compiled it and tested a little bit...it seems not too far from the gtk gui.
It could be a nice plus into a aptosid release! Cool

i did not found any option in wicd for mobile connection. I had a look at network-manager-applet in kde 4.5.1 and i found that mobile connection is non visibile to me, maybe because i miss some packages. I would have to investigate further, anyway nm is still not valid as wicd is in my opinion. And better than anything i found that ceni saved me in more than a situation...

Moved to a more appropriate forum -

On the topic of including wicd in the release, this has been discussed before - in short, the popular wireless/network management tools replace(d?) important components of the debian networking stack which makes them much more delicate when it comes to upgrading core networking stuff.
We recommend you use wpasupplicant, and wpagui package as a gui frontend for wireless network config/management. This can be configured easily with the Ceni tool.

All of these tools complement the debian networking stack, work consistently together in and out of a gui, and are extremely reliable in general, therefore easier for us to support.

well cleary, you are allright. i always used to manage connection with wicd in the past, anyway i will try a pure debian way...
...for those interested in wicd-kde, i removed yesterday and turn back to gtk client, which is much more nice...
