How is it possible to connect a video player in order to grab video from old VHS cassettes?
What software is suitable for the task?
My graphic card: ATI Radeon 5450 |

The cassette recorders may have both RF and Audio/Video outputs.
You will need a card, perhaps a TV tuner card to use the RF.
Then the software I am not aware of. |

If you have a s-video or composite input (like an old analogue tv card), start with tvtime (preferred) or kdetv. Be aware that most graphics cards only offer a TV, s-video or composite output, but no input. |

I used a Hauppauge PVR-150 card, and vlc, several years ago, to record VHS tapes from the 1980s. If this is something you could use, pm me and I'll be happy to provide more details. |

Thank you for the answers.
I have only few cassettes, so I don't think I'll invest in a video tuner card. |

You could get a used one cheap..look around. For just recording from VHS, you can get away with an older analog card |
