Change your mirror, cdn gives problems here also, some days it's good, most days it's not |

cdn.debian.net is a meta mirror providing regional round robin DNS entries, to ensure both load balancing among Debian mirrors and to prefer regional mirrors over others far away. This effectively means that cdn.debian.net points to a different mirror for you than it does for me and yet another for piper, so while it's not down for me, it might very well be for you.
While the cdn.debian.org mirror pool is a great service for distributing aptosid world wide (everyone gets a nearby mirror, not a single router gets too much traffic - a serious problem for early live CDs, which pretty much killed the german mirrors back then), it's not necessarily picking the ideal mirror. Therefore we strongly suggest to pick a regional mirror from http://www.debian.org/mirror/list - even though cdn.debian.net ought to work as well.

Ubuntu used to have a software for detecting the fastest mirror for an user.
Maybe they still do. Can we have anything like this in aptosid? |

Found this:
http://blog.mypapit.net/2008/01/find-fa ... t-apt.html
...but netselect-apt didn't work...

netselect was unable to find a mirror, this probably means that
you are behind a firewall and it is blocking ICMP and/or
UDP traceroute. Or the servers test are actively blocking
ICMP and/or UDP traceroute probes.

If you get a duplicate repo error (as your main list), you might just delete the "apt-spy.list", that it creates. You can always make another; by running apt-spy. |
