Hi,
since some time I have the following problem:
The text console in init 3 does not use the full screen but only the upper left corner. The unused parts are never changed and display something like uninitialized video memory. See the attached screen shot. I have tried to search the net but did not find anything useful yet.

What could be the problem?

      Code:
root@hal:/home/wofritz# infobash -v
Host/Kernel/OS  "hal" running Linux 2.6.39-2.slh.2-aptosid-686 i686 [ sidux 2009-03 - Μώμος Preview 1 - kde-lite - (200910242103) ]
CPU Info        Intel Pentium 4 clocked at [ 2606.126 MHz ]
Videocard       ATI R300 NF [Radeon 9600 TX]  X.Org 1.10.2.902  [ 1280x1024@60.0hz, 1280x1024@85.0hz ]
Processes 189 | Uptime 22min | Memory 824.9/2025.9MB | HDD Size 500GB (29%used) | GLX Renderer Gallium 0.4 on ATI R300 | GLX Version Yes | Client Shell | Infobash v3.36

If more information is needed, feel free to ask.

Regards,
Wolfgang

As usual, I found the solution immediately after a wrote my post.

I added "video=1280x1024" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT in /etc/default/grub and ran update-grub. After reboot, the console uses the full screen now.

Regards,
Wolfgang
