Whenever I click on any video on YouTube
I get this on a message box.

[Javascript application]
on top of message box and

Error: BVDCORE.videoFormats is undefined

Videos run well after the box is closed.

If you really use that extension, you might need to report the bug to the extension developer and provide that error message

Speaking of easy downloading: until recently (months?) flash video's were stored in /tmp/. This doesn't seem to be the case anymore, does anyone know what happened?

Security through obscurity. The flashplugin deletes the file now immediately after it was created - this removes the "pointer" in /tmp but the video is still there as long as the flashplugin keeps the file open.

See e.g. https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=912411 for more or less good examples to get hold of these "hidden" files…

Right, the thread contains some info about what happens (file gets unlinked immediately). It's unbelievable what hoops I have to jump through to just copy a downloaded video. Security? Perhaps, wouldn't be surprised if the content industry had a say in it. Downloading should be illegal, right? That kind of thinking.

Thanks for the link. The explanation answers my question, one of the scripts provides a copy-paste solution.
