Hello

I have very poor 2d graphics with ATI Technologies Inc RV535 [Radeon X1650 Series] (rev 9e) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

I have installed the linux-firmware-non free following a debian wiki, but, I think it got worse actually. It is more obvious when I navigate through menus, like in Open Office, or start-up menu... Colored lines appear in the background of the pannel, before displaying the content...

This seems to be a problem in X independent of the graphics chip and driver. It was discussed here some time ago, but I can't find the thread right now (could be it was in the German forum). I see it on 2 machines, one with an old ATI 9600 graphics and the open source driver, the other a laptop with HD 6470M (I think so, but I am not at this laptop now) with both the radeon and the fglrx driver. Here it is most prominent when I open LibreOffice.

Yesterday some X related updates came in, but they didn't fix the issue.

Regards,
Wolfgang

Sorry I have no idea how to solve it. I found the original thread regarding this problem so you can check if your problem is really the same:

Thanks for everything, I get it now.

How can I change back to 2.6.38-6.slh.2-aptosid-68 kernel . Or should I start another thread? Thanks!
