Some hotel networks require to visit a web page to login into their wifi.

I use ceni to connect in my home wifi.

How I can connect from a webpage using ceni?

You set up the network, open the browser, enter loginname and password. With ceni I don't know, I directly edit wpasupplicant.conf if needed.

I dont get any Information. With windows I go to hotel page and I put some codes they give me and then I have general wifi access.

Same think happens in many airports.

I don't know how it is for you, but for me I can always connect to the hotel/ariport network with ceni or wpa_supplicant (in the usual way). Then, I just open the browser and try to load any page. I am then redirected to the hotel/airport sign in page.

HTH,

Luis

You have to setup a connection before you can type the logins into your browser. There has to be at least an ESSID. I have set up wpa roaming to handle such networks without having to do anything. Or I would use WPA-Gui (it shows me the network and lets me connect to it). There are instructions in our manual.

Regarding ceni: again I have to admit that I have never used or tried it. But it should be able to handle open networks as well in a convenient way. "iwlist s" (as root) should list you the name of the network.

I assume you can't connect directly, as long as you lack SSID and key.
So you are forced to go through the site that is given by a proxy or a router software. So the hotel forces you to get credentials as it is a payment procedure.

Ok thanks all. I am at a hotel right now using aptosid.
I "connected" using ceni ant then I had to go into hotel page to give user ID & password to rely connect. The procedure worked!!!.

In athens free airport wifi I was unable to connect but some friend of mine with ipod connected without problem. I had no time to test the issue.

Any way, thank you all.

PS1. ceni is a really good software Smile
PS2. hotel wifi sucks but this is a hotel problem and not aptosid.
