hardware is HP Pavilion dv8000
lshw reports that wireless is disabled.
This is a fresh imera install for amd64 with kde full.
Everything has been upgraded to latest version, without errors.
fw-detect reports missing firmware b43
From init 3 in pavilion machine, running as root:
apt-get update
apt-get install firmware-b43-lpphy-installer
modprobe -r b43
modprobe b43

apt-get install firmware-b43-lpphy-installer reports that it is already the newest version.
All other commands execute OK but...
fw-detect continues to report same error.
Non-free sources are active and all instructions in manual have been performed, I even installed git-core with all the recommended packages.
Wireless still not working.
Please help.
