Running KDE full with amd64.
Nepomuk backup tool will not work because "nepomuk backup service does not seem to be running".
How to fix this?

What is the "Nepomuk backup tool"? How it is invoked?

The only things I know about are the settings (that I saw but did not yet use):
-> Workspace Appearance And Behavior
-> Desktop Search
-> Backup

Greetings,
arwa

My backup works ok. However I think the functionality of nepomuk is not installed by default in aptosid.
Do you have libnepomukutils4 installed?

@pumrel
libnepomukquery4a
libnepomukutils4
libnepomuk4
are all installed
maybe I need akonadi-backend-odbc?
Or maybe a script that will start the service?

@arwa
Nepomuk backup tool is in KDE full menu, under System tab.
Maybe you have KDE lite...

No need for a script as I don't start the service manually Sad

It seems you should have nepomuk backup installed if you have kdebase-runtime as I suppose you do.
      Code:

Maybe nepomuk itself is not running correctly. Do you have virtuoso installed? Also, the package you mention is installed on my system. I think it manages virtuoso within akonadi. Might be a good idea to try to install it.

Cannot figure this one out.
Today I ran a dist-upgrade.
kdebase-runtime is installed, however
      Code:
root@pavilionKDE:/home/ckosloff# apt-file search nepomukbackup
bash: apt-file: command not found

akonadi-backend-odbc is installed.
Also installed all virtuoso packages that I could find.
Rebooted, same old.

Do you have "apt-file" installed?

No need to install apt-file. It's only a tool for finding which package a specific file is situated.

@chkosloff
Silly question. Do you have nepomuk enabled?

EDIT: Check it by running:
      Code:
ps -A|grep nepomuk

root@pavilionKDE:/home/ckosloff# ps -A | grep nepomuk
3128 ? 00:00:00 akonadi_nepomuk
3141 ? 00:00:00 nepomukserver

Thanks for help.
I will install apt-file anyway, I have been using too many GUI tools lately.
Nepomuk backup always throws error.

Hmm, nepomukservice doesn't seem to be running.
Try to run it manually with:
      Code:
nepomukservicestub nepomukstrigiservice

Then try to backup.
However, that will lead us to another question - why wouldn't it start automatically? Very Happy

root@pavilionKDE:/home/ckosloff# nepomukservicestub nepomukstrigiservice -v
Qt: 4.7.3
KDE Development Platform: 4.6.5 (4.6.5)
Nepomuk Service Stub: 0.2

Still out of luck, not running, and I have no clue why it would not start automatically.

strigidaemon is not involved here, I'm pretty sure.
Try to reinstall the virtuoso-minimal and possibly nepomuk.
