Hello,

as I already stated here I got a Kwin crash (segmentation fault) when using desktop effects after I did a DU yesterday. As it looks like that had nothing do with the problem it that thread.
As I found here it is more likely a problem of the Intel graphic driver. In this article it is stated that the blur effect causes this kind of problem. Switching off the blur effect solves indeed my problem. Here my system info
      Code:
Host/Kernel/OS  "d620box" running Linux 3.0-3.slh.4-aptosid-amd64 x86_64 [ aptosid 2010-02 Κῆρες - kde-lite - (201009132215) ]
CPU Info        2x Intel Core2 T7200 @ 4096 KB cache flags( sse3 ht nx lm vmx ) clocked at [ 1667.000 MHz ]
Videocard       Intel Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller  X.Org 1.10.4  [ 1440x900@60.0hz ]
Network cards   Broadcom NetXtreme BCM5752 Gigabit PCI Express
                PCI device 0x4243:0x4312

This is apparently under investigation already.

Hi,
I tried this too - kwin crashed again. No solution for me!

I had the same problem after a dist-upgrade in the last week and disabling the Blur effect seems to solve it. Re-enabling Blur effect instantly produces a KWin crash again. The closest KDE bug report I found was this one. My backtrace with all relevant debug packages installed:
